Meet Our Founder
Our foundation is built on high-stakes experience. Founder David Sohm brings a lifetime of firearms dedication and service to the bench:
Public Service: Over 20 years in law enforcement and criminal justice, including service with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the St. Paul Police Department.
Professional Trainer: 30+ years as a professional firearms trainer for law enforcement and military personnel.
Certified Gunsmith: David holds a 2-year degree in Gunsmithing and Firearms Technologies from Pine Tech College.
Armorer Certifications: Certified armorer on four critical platforms: AR-15, Glock, Springfield, and Mossberg.
Recipient – Lifetime Achievement Award, SOTA (Special Operations Training Association), Upper Midwest – 2024
16 years with The Evans Group – TSG L.E. Program, supporting Law Enforcement and Special Operations teams while representing and training with SureFire, Trijicon, Mossberg, LWRC, and Springfield platforms
The Warrior Logo: History
The Warrior Logo has a very special meaning to myself, my team members and plank owners of my former company. (Mission Critical Concepts) If you look closely, it tells a very special story about the Warrior mentality, endurance, tenacity, selflessness, faith and commitment to mission completion. This logo was formed out of the dedication, professionalism and selfless time and efforts of a small and very dedicated instructional team of men and women who over 30 years committed to training tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, Military, and Special Operations Personnel in service to their country, states, counties and local municipalities. This patch was only earned through difficult times of intense training, long hours, hard work, and in some cases (literally) their blood, sweat and tears in commitment to that mission. It is presented here as an acknowledgement too and in great admiration and respect for all those Instructional Warriors who gave of themselves to that cause and those (students) that paid the price to wear this patch.
Licensing & Compliance
Mission Critical Gunsmithing is committed to full legal compliance. We are finalizing our required licenses:
Federal Firearms License (FFL): Application paperwork has been approved and we have our federal FFL.
Wisconsin Dealer License: The state firearms dealer license application is also in progress.
We anticipate approval shortly and will operate strictly under proper federal and state authority.

Our Testing Process
We perform full functionality testing on every firearm with documented results to ensure we understand not just the symptom, but the root cause of the issue. Once work is completed, all firearms are test-fired on our on-range facility to verify factory-level performance and confirm the firearm is safe and ready to return to the owner.
